Kathryn Edin, a sociologist, is a Professor at Princeton University. He specializes in the study of people living in well-being. Two of his books are Generate meetings: how single mothers survive on low and wage jobs, and Promises I can save: why poor women become mothers before marriage .

He received his Ph.D. from Northwestern University in 1989, with a thesis on "There are many months left at the end of the money: how welfare recipients in Chicago meet the needs"

In February 2014, Edin was appointed Professor Renowned Bloomberg at Johns Hopkins University for his achievement as an interdisciplinary researcher and excellence in teaching the next generation of scholars. In 2018, he moved to Princeton University as Professor of Sociology and Public Affairs at Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.
