" Hallmark vacation " is a term used primarily in the United States to describe a holiday that is considered to exist primarily for commercial purposes, rather than to commemorate traditionally or historically significant events. The name comes from Hallmark Cards, a privately owned American company, who benefits from such manufacturing events through the sale of greeting cards and other items. Holidays that have been referred to as "Hallmark holidays" include Grandparents Day, Sweetest Day, Boss Day, and Secretary Day. Some people also consider St. Valentine, Mother's Day and Father's Day become such days. Hallmark Corporation stated that "can not take credit for creating holidays."
