Wonder Woman is a fictional superhero who appears in American comics published by DC Comics. The character is a founding member of the League of Justice, a goddess, and the Ambassador to the Amazon people. The character first appeared in All Star Comics # 8 in December 1941 and first starred in Sensation Comics # 1, January 1942. In his homeland, island country of Themyscira, official is Princess Diana from Themyscira, Princess Hippolyta âââ ⬠. When assimilating into a society outside his homeland, he adopted his civil identity Diana Prince . This character is also called by the nicknames such as "Amazing Amazon", "Spirit of Truth", "Themyscira Champion", "God Killer", and "Goddess of Love and War".
Wonder Woman was created by American psychologist and author William Moulton Marston (pen name: Charles Moulton), and artist Harry G. Peter. Marston's wife, Elizabeth, and their life partner, Olive Byrne, are credited as their inspiration for the character's appearance. Marston's comics display his ideas on the theory of DISC, and the character draws inspiration from early feminists, and especially from veteran birthmark Margaret Sanger; in particular, the work of "Women and New Races". The Wonder Woman title has been published by DC Comics almost continuously except for a brief hiatus in 1986.
In the late 1960s, Wonder Woman relinquished his power to remain in the male world, rather than accompanying his brothers in other dimensions in which they defended their magic.
As one of the world's first and leading super heroes, Wonder Woman simultaneously embodies the unparalleled powers and supreme graces of a birth fighter, and a genuine compassion and understanding of true humanity. He is made of clay by Zeus. A symbol of equality, power, and truth, his natural convictions and unparalleled intelligence make him unchallenged. Wonder Woman's early story tells that he was carved out of clay by his mother, Queen Hippolyta, and given life by Aphrodite, along with super powers as a gift by the Greek gods. In recent years, DC changed his background with the revelation that he was the daughter of Zeus and Hippolyta, jointly raised by his mother and his aunt Antiope and Menalippe. The characters have changed in depictions for decades, including their brief loss of power in the 1970s; in the 1980s, artist George Perez gave him a stocky look and emphasized his Amazon heritage. The Wonder Woman Amazonian Training helps develop amazing skills in tactics, hunting, and combat. He has a sophisticated technological warehouse, including Lasso of Truth, a pair of indestructible bracelets, a tiara that serves as a projectile, and, in old stories, various Amazon-based technology devices.
Wonder Woman characters were created during World War II; the characters in the story were originally portrayed against the Axis military forces as well as various kinds of colorful supervillies, although over time, the story became more emphasis on the characters, gods, and monsters of Greek mythology. Many of the stories depicting Wonder Woman save themselves from slavery, which defeated the trophy "damsels in distress" that were common in comics during the 1940s. In the decades since its debut, Wonder Woman has gained a number of enemies who are determined to eliminate the Amazon, including classic criminals such as Ares, Cheetah, Doctor Poison, Circe, Doctor Psycho, and Giganta, along with more recent enemies like Veronica Cale and First Birth. Wonder Woman also regularly appears in comic books featuring the team of superheroes of the Justice Society (from 1941) and the Justice League (from 1960).
Its character is a well-known figure in popular culture that has been adapted to various media. June 3rd is Wonder Woman Day. Stellar portrayal of characters in other media including Gloria Steinem puts characters on the cover of the second edition of Ms. in 1971; Wonder Woman TV series 1975-1979, starring Lynda Carter; as well as animated series like Super Friends and Justice League . Since the Carter television series, the studios are struggling to introduce the new Wonder Woman live action to the audience, although the characters continue to be featured in various toys and merchandise, as well as animated adaptations of DC properties, including live animations to feature DVDs starring Keri Russell. Attempts to return Wonder Woman to television have included television pilots for NBC in 2011, followed by another stalled production for The CW. Gal Gadot plays Wonder Woman in DC Extended Universe, starting with the 2016 film Batman Superman: Dawn of Justice, marks the appearance of both characters in the feature film ( The Lego Movie (2014) was the first as an animated character) in 75 years of history. Gadot also starred in the first live-action character film, Wonder Woman , which was released on June 2, 2017.

Creation
In an October 25, 1940, interview with William Moulton Marston magazine Family Circle, discussed the unfilled potential of the comic book medium. This article attracts the attention of comic book publisher Max Gaines, who hired Marston as education consultant for National Periodicals and All-American Publications, two companies that will join to form DC Comics. At that time, Marston wanted to create his own new superhero; Marston's wife and fellow psychologist Elizabeth suggested to him that it should be a woman:
William Moulton Marston, a well-known psychologist for finding a polygraph, finds an idea for a new type of superhero, who will not win with boxing or weapons, but with love. "Fine," said Elizabeth. "But for her a woman."
Marston introduced the idea to Gaines. Given the green light, Marston developed the Wonder Woman, which he believed to be the model of the unconventional and liberated woman. Marston also received inspiration from the bracelet worn by Olive Byrne, who lives with the couple in polyamorous relationships. Wonder Woman debuted at All Star Comics # 8 (cover date Dec/Jan 1941/1942, released in October 1941), written by Marston.
Marston is the creator of the systolic blood pressure gauge, which is essential for the development of polygraph (lie detector). Marston's experience with polygraphs assures him that women are more honest than men in certain situations and can work more efficiently.
Marston designed Wonder Woman to be an allegory for the ideal love leader; the kind of woman she believes must run the community.
"Wonder Woman is a psychological propaganda for a new type of woman who should, I believe, rule the world," Marston wrote.
In the 1943 edition of The American Scholar , Marston wrote:
Even girls do not want to be girls as long as our feminine archetype lacks strength, strength, and strength. Not wanting to be girls, they do not want to be gentle, obedient, peace-loving as a good woman. Women's strong qualities have been humiliated because of their weakness. The obvious remedy is to create a feminine character with all of Superman's powers plus all the charms of a beautiful and beautiful woman.
Marston continues the record by describing slavery and surrender as "honorable and noble practice". Marston writes in weakness for Wonder Woman, who is attached to the provisions of fiction that he is nicknamed "The Law of Aphrodite", which makes his chain "Appealing Bracelet" together by a man taking his super powers in the Amazon. However, not everything about his creation is explicitly explained in one source, which has caused confusion among writers and fans over the years.
Golden Age
Initially, Wonder Woman was an Amazon champion who won the right to restore Steve Trevor - an American intelligence officer whose plane crashed on a foreign island on the Amazon island - into the "Human World" and to combat Nazi crimes and crimes.
During this period, Wonder Woman joined the Justice Society of America as team secretary.
Silver Age
During the Silver Age, under writer Robert Kanigher, the origin of Wonder Woman was changed, along with other characters. This new origins story enhances Hellenistic roots and mythological characters: receiving blessings from every god in his crib, Diana is destined to be "as beautiful as Aphrodite, wise as Athena, as strong as Hercules, and as fast as Hermes."
In the late 1960s, under the guidance of Mike Sekowsky, Wonder Woman gave up his power to stay in the Human World rather than to accompany his fellow Amazonians to another dimension. Wonder Woman started using the Diana Prince alias and opened a mod boutique. He acquired a Chinese mentor named I Ching, who taught martial arts skills and weapons to Diana. Using his fighting skills rather than his strength, Diana engages in adventures spanning multiple genres, from espionage to mythology. This phase of the story is directly influenced by the British spy thriller The Avengers and Diana Rigg describe Emma Peel.
Bronze Age
In the early 1970s the character returned to the roots of the superhero in the Justice League of America and into the World War II era in his own title. But this, ultimately because the popularity of the TV series at that time also had Wonder Woman in the WW2 era, and shifted back to the 1970s after TV shows did the same.
With a new decade arriving, DC president Jenette Kahn ordered the change of Wonder Woman's appearance. Artist Milton Glaser, who also designed the "bullet" logo adopted by DC in 1977, created a stylish "WW" emblem that awakened and replaced the eagle in his corset, and debuted in 1982. The emblem was in turn incorporated by Todd Klein's letter studio into the monthly title logo, which lasted for one and a half years before being replaced by a version of the Glaser studio. With title sales steadily declining in 1985 (despite the unpublished changes being requested), the series was canceled and ended in # 329 (February 1986) edition written by Gerry Conway, who portrays Steve Trevor's marriage to Wonder Woman.
The 1986 crossover Crisis on Infinite Earths was designed and written with the goal of simplifying most of the DC characters into a more focused focus and recreating them for a new era, so that Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor are declared. come from Earth-Two dimensions, and along with all their exploits, erased from history, so the new Wonder Woman characters, stories and timelines can be a priority.
Modern Times
Following the 1985 Crisis on Infinite Earths series, George PÃÆ'à © rez, Len Wein, and Greg Potter rewrote the character's origin story, depicting Wonder Woman as a messenger and ambassador from Themyscira to Patriarch's World, charged with the mission of bringing peace to the outside world. PÃÆ' à © rez combines various gods and concepts from Greek mythology in the stories and origins of Wonder Woman. His character appearance acts as a foundation for the modern Wonder Woman stories, as he extends the widely accepted Diana's origins from clay. Release is a critical and commercial success.
In August 2010 (issue # 600), J. Michael Straczynski took over the task of writing the series and introducing Wonder Woman to an alternate timeline made by Gods in which Paradise Island has been destroyed and the Amazon spread all over the world. In this time line, Diana is an orphan who grew up in New York. The whole world has forgotten the existence of Wonder Woman and the main story of this escape is Diana trying to restore reality even though she herself does not remember it correctly. The Trio Death Goddesses named The Morrigan act as the main enemy of Wonder Woman. In this run, Wonder Woman wore a new costume designed by Jim Lee. Straczynski determines the plot and continues the writing assignment until Wonder Woman # 605; author Phil Hester then continued his run, which was eventually concluded at Wonder Woman # 614.
In 2011 The New 52, ââDC Comics relaunched its entire publishing line to attract new generation readers, and thus released volume 4 of the comic book title Wonder Woman. Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang were charged with writing and artistic assignments and significantly changing the character's history. In this new continuity, Wonder Woman wore a costume similar to the original Marston costume, using a sword and a shield, and had a completely new origin. No more clay figures are enlivened by the magic of the gods, he is, a demi-goddess and daughter of Hippolyta and Zeus's natural birth. The character changes of Azzarello and Chiang are critically acclaimed, but deeply divisive among the old fans of the characters.
In 2016, DC Comics once again relaunched all its publications as part of the "Rebirth" continuity reboot, and the new fifth volume of Wonder Woman was released bi-monthly with author Greg Rucka. The fifth volume of Wonder Woman is part of "DC Universe", the current continuity set after Rebirth. Initially, the new series does not use the regular storyline that exists between each issue; instead of two separate story lines sharing a book, with one story published every other matter, and another story published between it. This practice begins with the storyline "The Lies" for odd number issues, and "Year One" for even issues. The new storyline as presented in this issue effectively retcons the events of the new 52 series before. The storyline "The Lies" reveals that a number of events from the previous series [Wonder Woman] where Diana was made the Queen of Amazons and God of War, were in fact all illusions created by a mysterious criminal, and she has not been back to Themyscira since she go, he also can not go back there. The story of "One Year" is presented as an all-new origin story for Diana, which reveals how she received her power from the Olympian God, which was meant to bring her back to her classic DC roots. Wonder Woman appears in DC Rebirth with a revised look, which includes a red robe and light armor equipment. Together with his lasso and bracelet, he now regularly uses his sword and shield. Wonder Woman: Rebirth artist Liam Sharp describes a new armor as a utilitarian part that allows it to move more freely. Starting from Edition 26, the series returns to the regular storyline between each issue.

Characterization
Diana Prince
The identity of "Diana Prince" has been part of Wonder Woman's history since her comic debut in 1941. At the beginning of the Golden Age story, Wonder Woman served as a military secretary during World War II, using the Prince as the lid. Subsequent work, Wonder Woman featured as a Prince including translators at the United Nations, Air Force captains and ambassadors, and in the TV series of the 70s, Wonder Woman Lynda Carter used the Prince to serve as an agent of the Interdepartmental Defense Command. At DC Extended Universe, Prince works as a curator for the Department of Antiquities at the prestigious Louvre Museum and is honored by the curator of the Gotham City Museum of Antiquities. His long life, extraordinary accumulation of knowledge, and extraordinary understanding, made Diana Prince the wisest and most emotionally intelligent Justice League member.
During Marston's run, Diana Prince was the name of the army nurse Wonder Woman met. The nurse wanted to meet her fiancé, who was transferred to South America, but could not manage the money to do so. Because Wonder Woman needed a secret identity to keep Steve (who was being treated in the same army hospital where Diana Prince works), and since both are similar, Wonder Woman gives nurse money to go to her fiancé in exchange for nurse's identity and take Diana Prince as her alias. He started working as a military nurse and later as Air Force secretary.
The identity of Diana Prince is particularly prominent in the series published in the early 1970s, where she fights crime just under the Prince aka and without her mystical powers. To support himself, he runs a fashion clothing boutique.
The Diana Prince aka also plays an important role after the Infinite Crisis. Wonder Woman is broadcast around the world killing a villain named Maxwell Lord, because he objected to controlling Superman to kill Batman. When Wonder Woman caught him in his lasso, demanding to know how to stop Superman, Maxwell revealed that the only way to stop him was to kill the Lord, so that as a last resort, Diana broke his neck. To recover from the trauma of killing others, Amazon went into self-imposed exile for a year. Upon his return to public life, Diana realizes that her life as a super hero and celebrity ambassador has made her disappear from humanity. He therefore assumed the persona of Diana Prince and became an agent in the Metahuman Affairs Department. During a later battle with Circe wizard, a spell placed on Diana leaves him helpless when not in the guise of Wonder Woman.
The New 52 universe does not have the identity of "Diana Prince" as stated in the interview by series author Brian Azzarello. However, when he and Superman began dating, because of his civil identity he used the Diana Prince alias whenever he was around Clark Kent; as when he introduced himself to Lois Lane at the party moving Lois's house with that name.
The DC Rebirth universe has yet to show Diana Prince's identity as much as supporting Wonder Woman that will only be experienced by Diana of Themyscira in her fall.
Personality
Princess Diana is well respected as Wonder Woman and Diana Prince; an epithetical title - The Amazon Princess - describes the dichotomy of his character. He is a strong and strong-willed character who does not retreat from the fight or challenge. However, he is a very "fond of pen" diplomat, and a lover of peace who will never try to fight for or increase the conflict. He is simultaneously the most fierce and most nurturing member of the Justice League; and his political connections as United Nations Honorary Ambassadors and ambassador country ambassadors make it an invaluable addition to the team. With her strong ability, centuries of training and experience in handling threats ranging from minor crime to magical or supernatural threats, Diana is able to compete with almost any hero or villain.
Many writers describe Diana with different personalities and tones; between the two extremes diametrically; that a worldly warrior, a very compassionate and compassionate ambassador, and sometimes also as a naive and innocent person, depends on the author. What remains constant, and is the main character, is the keeper: his extraordinary faith in love, empathy, compassion, and having a strong conscience. This trait has become the reason for its induction to Star Sapphires.
The author, Gail Simone, applauded for her role as Wonder Woman during the run of this series, with comic book reviewer Dan Phillips of IGN who noted that "she formed Diana into a highly connected and sympathetic character."
Actress Gal Gadot portrays Wonder Woman as "an idealist, experienced, super-confident, open and sincere even in the midst of horrible bloody conflicts, has a lot of strength and strength, but in the end he is a woman with lots of emotional intelligence."
In the Golden Age, Wonder Woman follows Amazon's code to help anyone in need, even misogynists, and never receives a reward for saving someone; while on the contrary, the modern version of the character has been proven to be lethal and fatal when left unchecked alternatively, exemplified in Maxwell Lord's murder to save Superman's life.
The New 52 version of the character has been described as being younger, more stubborn, loving, grumpy and deliberate. Brian Azzarello stated in a video interview with DC Comics that they are building a very "confident", "impulsive" and "good-natured" character in him. He refers to the nature of his compassionate feelings as his strengths and weaknesses.
Characteristic of his character is a group of mythical exclamations, beginning with "Aphrodite the Great!", Followed by "Great Hera!", "Loving Minerva!", And "Patient Sappho!", Some of which were donated by Elizabeth. Holloway Marston.
More
Diana, after her death, was granted the divinity as the Goddess of Truth by her gods for faithful devotion. During his short time as Olympus deity, Diana was replaced in the role of Wonder Woman by his mother, Queen Hippolyta. Unlike Diana receiving the Wonder Woman title to honor, Hippolyta's role as Wonder Woman is meant to be a punishment for her betrayal in Artemis' death as well as to kill her own daughter by accident. However, Hippolyta eventually grew to enjoy freedom and adventure with that title. While Diana uses Lasso of Truth as her main weapon, Hippolyta loves a wide sword.
John Byrne, the author who introduced the concept of Hippolyta as the first Wonder Woman, has explained his intentions in a post on his message board:
I think one of George's "mistakes" in rebooting Wonder Woman is to make him 25 years old when he leaves the Island of Heaven. I prefer the idea of ââa thousands-year-old Diana (like, if I remember correctly, she's on a TV series). From that angle, I want to see Diana have Wonder Woman on WW2, and return to our world in reboot. Not having that option, I took the next best course, and asked Hippolyta to fill that role.
As Wonder Woman, Queen Hippolyta was soon involved in a time travel mission back to the 1940s with Jay Garrick. After this mission, he was elected to join the Justice Society of America and remained in that era for eight years, in which his colleagues dubbed him "Polly". During that time he had a relationship with Ted Grant. Hippolyta also made visits to the past to see his godchild Lyta, the daughter of Hippolyta's protégé, Helena, the Golden Age Fury. This visit takes place every year from a young Lyta perspective and also contributes to Hippolyta's participation in the JSA/JLA team. When he came back from the past, Hippolyta took Diana's place at JLA as well.
Artemis of Bana-Mighdall briefly served as Wonder Woman during the Hippolyta trial for the new Wonder Woman. Orana, a character similar to Artemis, defeated Diana in a new contest and became Wonder Woman in the pre- Crisis on Infinite Earths continuity. Orana was killed in his first mission. Others who have worn Wonder Woman personalities include Nubia, Cassandra Sandsmark, and Donna Troy.
Ability
Power and skill
Diana is described as a great athlete, acrobat, fighter and strategist, trained and experienced in various forms of armed and unarmed combat modern and modern, including the exclusive martial arts of the Amazon. In some versions, his mother trained him, as Wonder Girl, for his future career as Wonder Woman. From the beginning, he was portrayed as very skilled in using his Amazon bracelet to stop bullets and use his gold lasso. Batman once called it "the best melee combatant in the world". The modern version of this character is known to use lethal force when he considers it necessary. In New 52 continuity, his superior combat skills are the result of his training in the Amazon, as well as receiving further training from Ares, God of War, himself, from the very beginning of his childhood. The Golden Age Wonder Woman also has knowledge in the field of psychology, as well as his Amazon sister.
Pre-Crisis
The Golden Age Wonder Woman has powers that are comparable to the Golden Age Superman. Wonder Woman was able to bench pressing 15,000 pounds even before he received his bracelet, and then lifted a 50,000 pound stone above his head to inspire Amazon's people to face the test. Even when his superhuman powers were suspended, he still had enough mortal power from Amazon to break down the prison door to save Steve Trevor. In one of his earliest appearances, he was spotted running at a speed of 60 mph (97 km/h), and then jumped off a building and landed on his football.
He was able to heal faster than normal humans because of his decent drinking water from the Heavenly Youth Fountain on Paradise Island.
His power will be removed in accordance with the "Law of Aphrodite" if he allows his bracelet to be tied or chained by a man.
He also has various mental and psychical abilities, according to Marston's interest in parapsychology and metaphysics. Such arrays include ESP, astral projection, telepathy (with or without Mental Radio), mental control over electricity in the body, the ability of the Amazon to convert brain energy into muscle strength, etc. The first Wonder Woman becomes immune to electric shock after after its spirit is stripped of its atoms by Electro Sprayers. Psycho; it also found that he could not send a mental radio message without his body.
Wonder Woman (vol.1) # 105 reveals that Diana was formed from clay by the Queen of Amazons, given life and power by four Greek and Roman gods (otherwise known as the Olympian god) as a gift, in accordance with his nickname famous: "Beautiful as Aphrodite, wise as Athena, faster than Hermes, and stronger than Hercules", making it the strongest in the Amazon. Amazon's Wonder Woman training provides limited telepathy, profound scientific knowledge, and the ability to speak every language - even cavemen and Martian languages.
Between 1966 and 1967, new powers were added, such as the super-breath.
In Silver and Bronze comics, Wonder Woman was able to increase its strength even further. At a time of great need, removing his bracelet will increase his strength tenfold, but it causes him to rage in the process.
This power accepts changes after the Crisis on Infinite Earths incident.
Post-Crisis
In the post-crisis universe, Wonder Woman received its superhuman powers as a blessing from Olympus goddesses like the previous Silver Age versions, but with changes to some of its powers:
- Demeter, the goddess of agriculture and fertility, blessed Diana with power taken from Earth Gaea spirits, making her one of the physically strongest heroes in the DC Universe and the strongest heroine of the DC Universe. This power has enabled him to usually defeat Superman and Supergirl, easily using his own power to defeat the character. He has also held himself against Darkseid. However, now Diana is the daughter of Zeus, the king of the Greek gods, so it is unclear how much his strength and strength are the direct result of his divine heritage. His connection to the earth allows him to heal at an accelerated rate as long as he is in contact with the planet. However, as mentioned earlier, now he is a demigod girl, he has suggested that he heals very quickly also because of his divine inheritance. In the rare case where he has been seriously injured, Diana demonstrates the ability to physically join the earth, causing any injury or poison to be removed from his body; such acts are considered sacred, and can only be used in extreme cases.
- Athena Pallas, goddess of wisdom and war, gave Diana great wisdom, intelligence, and military prowess. The Athens Prize has enabled Diana to master more than a dozen languages ââ(including those from aliens), intricate handicrafts, science and philosophy, as well as armed and unarmed leadership, military strategy, and combat. More recently, Athena has attached her own vision to Diana, giving her an increased empathy.
- Artemis, the goddess of hunting, animals, and the Moon, decorates Diana with the Hunter's Eye and unity with wild animals, which means Diana can communicate with all animals, including dinosaurs. The eye of Hunter's ability gives Diana an enhanced range of senses, including telescopic and super-hearing vision.
- Hestia, the goddess of fireside and home, grants Diana a brotherhood with fire. This power has been shown to control the "Fire of Truth", which Diana uses through her lasso, making anyone bound by her can not lie. This ability also provides its resistance to normal and supernatural fire.
- Hermes, the god god of speed, gives superhuman speed and the ability to fly. He is capable of flying at near half the speed of light. He can react fast enough to deflect bullets, lasers, and other projectiles with an almost impenetrable bracelet. After the 2011 character's relaunch, Wonder Woman naturally lacks flying power. He got it as soon as he was exposed to the feathers thrown by Hermes.
- Aphrodite, the goddess of love, bestowed Diana with amazing beauty, and a good heart.
Though not entirely immune, he is very resistant to a large number of compulsive forces and extreme temperatures and matches Superman in this regard, even though the weapon-eyed or projectile is applied with enough force to penetrate his skin. Because of its divine origin, Diana can withstand various forms of magical manipulation.
He was able to astrally project himself into various mythical countries. His physical body reacts to whatever happens to him in the mystical astral plane, leaving his body cut, bruised, or sometimes reinforced after his mind and body are reunited. He apparently can leave the planet through meditation and do this once to save Artemis when he is in Hell.
What's New 52
After the 2011 launch, Diana gained new strength. This new capability, which includes super human speed, endurance, longevity, accelerated healing, and even flight comes alongside Olympian strengths attributed earlier. He is now considered stronger than Hercules. In addition to his armor, Diana's indestructible bracelet could now create a thunderous explosion when he collided with them. This new capability is considered the daughter of Hippolyta and Zeus. His strength is now thought to be almost immeasurable if he leaves without the Delivery Bracelet, which keeps his power. He used this power in the battle against the goddess Artemis and quickly made his unconscious easily with a series of carefully positioned counter-attacks. While using his divine powers, his clothes and gear are on and his eyes shine like his father.
After becoming the God of War on the Wonder Woman pages, Diana inherited the divine abilities of Ares. Diana has not shown her full strength as War, but is seen in Superman/Wonder Woman <5> to easily enter into telepathic relationships with a soldier, explaining "I War. I know all the soldiers, and they know me. "
Rebirth
After the Rebirth Retreat, the "Year One" storyline explains that when put into a cell after coming to the Human World, Diana is visited by Greek gods in animal form. Each gives his strength that will reveal himself when he needs it. He first performed power when he accidentally tore the bar from his cell door when visited by Steve Trevor, Etta Candy, and Barbara Ann Minerva. Then on his way to the mall, he finds super speed, great endurance, and aviation power against terrorist attacks.
DC Universe
DC Comics ended Rebirth's branding in December 2017, opting to include everything under the bigger banner and naming "DC Universe". The continuity set by Rebirth continues throughout the DC comic book title, including the five volumes of Wonder Woman .
Technology
Diana has a powerful arsenal of gods that she possesses, but her distinctive tools are her indestructible bracelets and Lasso of Truth.
Personal armor
Wonder Woman outfits have varied over time, though almost all incarnation clothing has retained some form of chest, tiara, bracelets, and the signature five-pointed star sign. When Wonder Woman was first introduced, she wore a very patriotic skirt and red top that incorporated American eagles and elements of the United States flag, reflecting the origin of the comic during World War II. Later, the artists introduced what would become the classic ensemble of Wonder Woman, adding a steel-plated plaster to its peak whose design is reminiscent of the W character and revealing short blue short shorts, ranging in length from artist to artist. Other artists have experimented with different looks for Wonder Woman over the years, including all-white mod jumpsuit, biker outfits, variations of mainstream depictions featuring leather pants and jackets, and a number of armored battlesuits. Contemporary artists have tried to emphasize traditional Wonder Woman outfits as red-armored tops with blue gladiator skirts.
- Golden Age
Wonder Woman's clothing design was originally rooted in American symbolism and iconography, which included the symbol of its signature star, the golden eagle on his chest, crimson crime bustier, white belt and dark blue striped skirt/culotte.
He also has a pair of red glowing magnetic earrings that allow him to receive messages from Queen Desira from the planet Venus.
- Pre-Crisis
At the time of his debut, Wonder Woman wore a red top with a golden eagle emblem, a white belt, blue-blue twinkle beard, and red and gold go-go shoes. She originally wore a skirt; But according to Elizabeth Martson, "It's too difficult to draw and will be more often in her head." The outfit is entirely based on the American flag, because Wonder Woman is a pure American icon as he made his debut during World War II. Then in 1942, the Wonder Woman outfit received little change - the cotton converted completely into tight shorts and she wore sandals. While previously most of his back was exposed, during the imposition of the Comic Code Authority in the mid-1950s, Wonder Woman outfits were rectified to make it re-sealed substantially, in order to comply with the Authority's rules on minimum exposure. During Mike Sekowsky run in the late 1960s, Diana gave up her powers and started using her own skills to fight crime. He wore a series of jumpsuits as his outfit, the most popular being the white one.
After the Sekowsky run ended in the early 1970s, Diana's roots were restored to her old mythology and she wore a more modern version of her original outfit, the predecessor of her "swimwear" outfit. Then, in 1976, his shining white belt turned to yellow. For Serie 3, artist Terry Dodson redraws his clothes as a strapless swimsuit.
- Post Crisis
After Crisis on Infinite Earths, George PÃÆ' à © rez rebooted the character in 1987. He wore clothing similar to the 1970s, but now with a bigger shining gold belt. This outfit continues until William Messner-Loebs' run, which has left the Wonder Woman role to Artemis. No longer Wonder Woman, Diana wore a new biker-girl outfit designed by artist Mike Deodato Jr. After John Byrne took over the writing and art assignment, he redesigned the Wonder Woman outfit (Diana was restored as Wonder Woman at the end of Loebs' run) and joined the coat and belt together.
His clothes did not receive prominent changes until after the 2005-2006 Infinity Crisis storyline. Similar to his chest plate, his shiny belt is also shaped into a "W". This outfit continues until issuing # 600 - J. Michael Straczynski running the time line changed Wonder Woman drastically changed his clothes. His outfit was redesigned by Jim Lee and included a redesigned symbol, a gold and red top, black pants, and a black-and-blue jacket which was then stopped.
It was later retconned by Gail Simone that Wonder Woman's clothing design had Amazon roots. During a flashback in Vol. 3, Hippolyta was shown issuing orders to have the clothes made for Diana, taking inspiration from the sky on the night Diana was born; the red hunter months and the star field against the blue, and the breastplate hawks become symbols of the representation of the Athena bird.
- The New 52
Another major clothing change for Wonder Woman emerged as part of the DC Comics 2011 re-launch of the entire publication line, The New 52. The original one-piece clothing of the character was restored, although the combination of red and blue colors was changed to dark red and blue-black. His chest plate, belt and tiara were also changed from gold to platinum or silver sterling. Along with his sword, he now also uses a shield. He wears many accessories such as sleeveless and neck jewelry that are styled as "WW" motifs. His clothes are no longer made of cloth, because they now resemble a kind of light and flexible body armor. His boots are now very dark blue than red. Previous designs included black trousers, but they were removed and one part display was restored during the time of publication.
After the events of the 2015 storyline "Convergence", Diana gets a new armor with classic armor and tiara back.
- DC Universe
Following the re-launch of "DC Rebirth" 2016, the redesigned Wonder Woman outfit resembles the one worn in the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice . This outfit is a red bustier with golden eagles, a blue leather skirt with a gold rim with two stars, and knee-high red boots with gold knee and accent shields. The tiger is once again a gold with a red star. He sometimes wears red robes with gold buckles and edges. She continues to wear this latest outfit in DC Universe, the continuity set after Rebirth.
The star symbol of his tiara is now an eight-star star. According to designer Lindy Hemming and director Patty Jenkins, every design decision made for Themyscira comes to the same question: "How do I want a bad life?" "For me, they should not be wearing armor like men, it should be different, it must be original and real [...] and interesting for women." When asked about the decision to provide sandals marked Amazon, Jenkins explains that they also have flats for fighting, adding "This is a total fulfillment of wishes [...] I, as a woman, want Wonder Woman to be sexy, hot, fight badass, and looks great at the same time [...] in the same way Superman wants to have huge pecs and big, impractical bodies that make them feel like the heroes they want and my hero, in my head , has very long legs. "This is in accordance with the original intent by William Moulton Marston, who wants his character to be feminine.
Invisible field
The Pre-Crisis version of the invisible aircraft is a must because before Crisis on Infinite Earths rewrote Wonder Woman history - along with the history of many other heroes - Wonder Woman can not fly. He grew stronger during and after the Silver Age of Comic Books, gaining strength to ride winds and imitate short-haul flights. However, this has limitations; for example, if there is no wind and the air is really still he will be stuck on the ground or if falling from a distance he is helpless falling from control to the ground. Although this means he will rely on a plane that does not look more rarely, he always needs it.
The Invisible Plane is a creation of Diana during her youth on Paradise Island. He made it an improvement on his mother's plane to be shot down in the Human World. The result of the innovation is an invisible plane that can fly at incredible speed without sound and undetected by enemy forces. Initially, it was described as transparent.
The Invisible Plane appears in the first comic strip, including All-Star Comics # 8, where it is shown as capable of flying at over 2,000mph (3,200km/h) and sends out rainbow rays that pierce the fog around the island of Heaven, and landed quietly and had a built-in radio. Wonder Woman is seen storing a plane on an abandoned farm near Washington, D.C., in a warehouse; he went there as Lt. Prince and changed clothes at some of the earliest stories. Although it has never been explicitly stated, the Aircraft may be stored there when not in use for the rest of the Pre-Crisis era. In a story published shortly thereafter, he flew at 40 miles (64 km) per second.
Shortly afterwards, Wonder Woman was shown able to call her with a tiara, take her to the War Department, and extend it from the rope ladder with which she could climb onto it. He uses airplanes to fly out into space, and often carries Etta Candy and Holliday Girls, Steve Trevor, and others. During the 1950s, the aircraft became jet, and was often shown swooping over the office of Lt. Prince; he took off his uniform with super speed and boundary to the plane. Although the Aircraft is described as semi-transparent for the convenience of the reader, deep dialog shows that it is completely invisible, or at least it can become so the need arises.
Wonder Woman continued to use the aircraft for super speed, outer space, and multi-dimensional transportation until the Diana Prince's unpowered era. When Wonder Woman again performed a super-powered operation, in 1973, he continued to use the jet as before, but slid on the air currents for short distances. At one point, Aphrodite gave the plane the power to fly faster than the speed of light for any interstellar journey that might be performed by its fighters. Thanks to playing with gremlins, the Aircraft even developed the intelligence and the power to speak. The plane proved to be a good friend, eager to help the "lady" and the people she loved in any way. This is very good with Steve Trevor.
File Substitution
Diana's bulletproof bracelet is formed from the remnants of the legendary Athenian shield, Aegis, to be awarded to the champion. The shield was made of an indestructible goat skin, Amalthea, who suckled Zeus as a baby. This forearm protector has so far proved indestructible and able to absorb the impact of incoming attacks, allowing Wonder Woman to fend off automatic weapon fire and explosion of energy. Diana can slam the bracelets together to create a wave of concrete forces that can make powerful beings like Superman's bloody ears. Recently, he gained the ability to channel Zeus lightning through his bracelet as well. Zeus explains to him that this power has been contained within the bracelet since their creation, since they were once part of Aegis, and that he has just unlocked it for its use. After the character's relaunch in 2011, it was revealed that Diana is the daughter of Zeus and Hippolyta and that the bracelet is able to retain the power she inherited from Zeus. In addition, Hephaestus has modified the bracelet to allow Wonder Woman who possesses magical ability to manifest the sword of the gray metal of each bracelet. Each sword, marked with a red star, is formed from a flash of lightning, and when the Wonder Woman finishes with them, the sword disappears, it is said, back to its bracelet. Thus, he has produced another weapon from the bracelet in this way like an arc that fires explosive arrows, spears, and energy bolts among others.
The inspiration for giving Diana bracelets came from a pair of bracelets worn by Olive Byrne, assistant and lover researcher creator William Moulton Marston.
Lasso of Truth
The Lasso of Truth , or Lasso of Hestia , forged by Hephaestus from Gaea's gold belt. The original form of Lasso in the Golden Age is called the Magic Lasso of Aphrodite. It forces all the creatures that come into contact with it to say absolute and almost indestructible truths; in Identity Crisis , Green Arrow mistakenly describes it as "the only lie detector designed by Zeus." The only time it has been broken is when Wonder Woman himself refused to accept the truth expressed by lasso, as when he was faced with Rama Khan from Jarhanpur, and by Bizarro in Matt Wagner the non-canonical Batman/Superman/Wonder Woman : Trinity . During the Golden Age, the original form of Lasso had the power to force whoever was caught to obey any command given to them, even to the exclusion of other people's mind control; this is effective enough to defeat strong-willed creatures like Captain Marvel. Diana uses Lasso with great precision and accuracy and can use it as a whip or a noose.
More items
Diana occasionally uses additional weaponry in formal combat, such as ceremonial gold armor with gold wings, pteruges, chestplates, and gold helmets shaped eagle head. He has a magical sword that is forged by Hephaestus that is sharp enough to cut off electrons from atoms.
In the early 1950s, Wonder Woman tiara has also been used as a sharp-pointed throwing weapon, returning to it like a boomerang. The tiara allows Wonder Woman to be immune from telepathic attacks, as well as allowing him to telepathically contact the likes of Amazon back on Themyscira using the ruby ââpower of the red star at its center.
The Golden, Silver, and Bronze Age depictions of Wonder Woman show him using a silent and invisible plane that can be controlled by mental commands and fly at speeds of up to 3,000 mph (4,800 km/h). Its appearance varies from time to time; Originally it had a propeller, while later withdrawn as a jet plane resembling a stealth aircraft.
During the golden days Wonder Woman has Purple Ray capable of healing even fatal gunshot wounds to the brain. He also has Mental Radio that can let him receive messages from those in need.
As a temporary applicant to Star Sapphires, Wonder Woman gained access to the purple love ring. This ring allows him to change his costume at will, to make light-energy energy constructions, and reveal one's true love to them. He is able to combine energy with his lasso to improve his ability.
Fictional character biography
20th century
Origin
In her debut at All Star Comics # 8, Diana is a member of a female tribe called the Amazon, native of Paradise Island - a remote island located in the middle of a vast ocean. Captain Steve Trevor's plane crashed on the island and he was found alive but unconscious by Diana and fellow Amazon, and friend, Mala. Diana has kept her healthy and falling in love with her. A competition is held among all Amazon by Diana's mother, Queen Hippolyta Amazon, to determine who is most worthy of all women; Hippolyta collects the winner with the responsibility of delivering Captain Steve Trevor back to the Human World and to fight for justice. Hippolyta forbade Diana enter the competition, but she still took part, wearing a mask to hide her identity. He won the competition and revealed himself, the shocking Hippolyta, who finally accepted, and had to surrender, Diana's desire to go to the Human World. She was then given a special uniform made by her mother for her new role as Wonder Woman and safely return Steve Trevor back to her home country.
Golden Age
Coming to America for the first time, Wonder Woman went to a crying army nurse. When asked about his circumstances, he discovered that the nurse wanted to go to South America with his fiancée but could not because of lack of money. Since the two look identical and Wonder Woman needs a valid job and identity to keep Steve (who is being treated in the same army hospital), he gives him the money he earned earlier to help him go to his fiancé instead for his identity. The nurse revealed her name as Diana Prince, and thus, the Wonder Woman's secret identity was created, and she began working as a nurse in the army.
Wonder Woman then took part in various adventures, mostly side by side with Trevor. His most common enemies during this period were Nazi troops led by a German baron named Paula von Gunther, sometimes evil gods/demigods such as Mars and Duke of Deception, and then colorful criminals like Hypnota, Doctor Psycho, and Cheetah.
Silver Age
In the Silver Age, Wonder Woman's history received some changes. Its origins, which had a significant relationship with World War II, had been altered and its power proved to be the result of the blessings of the gods, in accordance with its epithet, "as beautiful as Aphrodite, wise as Athena, stronger than Hercules, and faster than Hermes". The concept of Wonder Girl and Wonder Tot was also introduced during this period.
Wonder Woman # 179 (November 1968) shows Wonder Woman releasing his power and returning costumes and titles to his mother to continue living in the Human World. The reason behind this is that all Amazon shifts to another dimension, but Diana can not accompany them because she has to stay behind to help Steve, who has been wrongly indicted. Thus, he no longer holds the Wonder Woman title and after meeting and practicing under the blind I-Ching martial arts mentor, Diana continues the crime fights as the helpless Prince Diana. He runs a mod boutique as a business and wears a series of jumpsuits against crime. During this period, Samuel R. Delany took over the scripting task with issue # 202. Delany was originally supposed to write a six story arc of the story, which would culminate in the battle over an abortion clinic, but Delany was removed reportedly due to criticism from Gloria Steinem, who, the problem written by Delany, is annoyed that the Wonder Woman loses its power and is no longer wearing her traditional costume.
Bronze Age
In Wonder Woman Vol 1 # 204, Diana's strength and costume is returned to her and she is once again restored as Wonder Woman. I-Ching was killed by a crazy sniper in the same problem. Later, Diana meets her sister, Nubia, who is the daughter of Hippolyta made of dark clay (hence the dark skin of Nubia). Nubia claimed to be the "Wonder Woman of the Floating Island", and he challenged Diana to a duel that ended in a draw. Back home, Nubia will have a further adventure involving Diana.
The last edition of Volume 1 shows Diana and Steve Trevor announcing their love for each other and their next marriage.
Modern Times
- Crisis on Infinite Earths
The Crisis on Infinite Earths event greatly changed and changed the history of the DC Universe. The history and origins of Wonder Woman were greatly changed by the event. Wonder Woman is now ambassador and ambassador of Themyscira (a new name for Paradise Island) to Patriarch's World, charged with bringing peace to the outside world. Various gods and concepts from Greek mythology are mixed and incorporated into Wonder Woman's story and origins. Diana is formed from clay from the beach of Themyscira by Hippolyta, who wants a child; the clay figure was later revived by the Greek gods. The Gods are then blessed and given their unique strength and abilities - the beauty of Aphrodite, the power of Demeter, the wisdom of Athena, the speed and escape of Hermes, the Hunter's Eye and the union with the beasts of Artemis and the brotherhood with fire and the ability to discern the truths of Hestia. Due to the reboot, Diana's surgical methods are made different from Superman and Batman with his willingness to use lethal force when he considers it necessary. In addition, his previous history and his marriage to Steve Trevor were erased. Trevor was introduced as a much older man than Diana who later married Etta Candy. Instead, Perez created Julia and Vanessa Kapatelis, a Greco-American scholar and his teenage daughter who will live with Diana while she is in Man world and will be the main supporting character in this series for many years.
- War of the Gods
Starting from Wonder Woman Vol 2 # 51, The Amazons, who have revealed their presence to the world at Wonder Woman Vol 2 # 50, are blamed for a series of murders and for the theft of various artifacts. Amazon was then taken into custody, Queen Hippolyta could not be found and Steve Trevor was forced by General Yedziniak to attack Themyscira. These events led to the "Gods War" taking place. The murderer, theft, and framing of the Amazon are revealed as Circe magicians, who "kill" Diana by returning her shape back to the clay where she was born. Later, Wonder Woman was brought back to life and together with Donna Troy, fighting with Circe and eventually defeating him. Circe will return in an unknown way.
When Hippolyta and the other Amazon are caught in the devil's dimensions, he begins receiving a vision of Wonder Woman's death. Worried about the death of his daughter, Hippolyta makes a false claim that Diana is not worthy to continue her role as Wonder Woman, and arranges a contest to determine who will become the new Wonder Woman, thus protecting Diana from her destiny. The participants of the final round are Diana and Artemis, and with the help of Hippolyta's mystical manipulation, Artemis won the contest. Therefore, Diana was forced to submit her degree and costume to Artemis, who became Wonder Woman and Diana who just started fighting crime with an alternative costume. Artemis then died in battle with the White Witch - thus, Hippolyta's vision of a dying Wonder Woman comes true, though not from Diana as Wonder Woman. Diana is once again a Wonder Woman, a request made by Artemis in her last moments. Artemis will then return as Requiem. Prior to Artemis's death, Hippolyta would confess his daughter of her own part in the death of Artemis, who strained her relationship because Diana could not forgive her mother for sending another Amazon to her death deliberately in order to save her own daughter.
Neron Hell involves Diana in battle and manages to kill her. The Olympian Gods gave Diana the divinity and the role of the Truth Goddess who began to live in Olympus; his mother, Hippolyta, then took on the role of Wonder Woman and put on a different incarnation. In Wonder Woman Vol 2 # 136, Diana is banished from Olympus for interfering in worldly matters (because Diana can not just watch over the misery of the people on earth). He soon returns to his duties as Wonder Woman, but experiences conflicts with his mother for his true place and role because Hippolyta seems accustomed to his life in America. Their struggle remains unsolved, because Hippolyta died during the intergalactic war. Themyscira was destroyed during the war, but was restored and reformed as a collection of floating islands. Circe then awakens Hippolyta in Wonder Woman Vol 3 # 8.
- OMAC Project
One of the events that led to Infinite Crisis was the Wonder Woman killing Maxwell Lord's villain in Wonder Woman # 219. Maxwell Lord is the Superman who controls the mind, which almost kills Batman. Wonder Woman tries to stop Superman, Lord (who is unable to control it) makes Superman see it as Doomsday enemy who tried to kill Lois Lane. Superman then attacked the Wonder Woman, and fierce fighting ensued. Buying his own time by slicing Superman's throat with a tiara, Wonder Woman caught Lord in him, Lasso of Truth and demanded to know how to stop control of Superman. Because lasso forces the wearer to speak only the truth, God tells him that the only way to stop him is to kill him. Without a choice, Wonder Woman broke the Lord's neck and put an end to Superman's control. Unbeknownst to it, the entire scene is broadcast live on every channel in the world by Brother Eye. The audience is unaware of the whole situation, and only sees Wonder Woman killing a Justice League colleague. Wonder Woman's actions put him in opposition to Batman and Superman, as they see Wonder Woman as a cold-blooded killer, despite the fact that he saved their lives.
- One Year Later
At the end of Infinite Crisis, Wonder Woman temporarily retires from her costumed identity. Diana, again using the Diana Prince alias, joins the Metahuman Affairs Department. Donna Troy became the new Wonder Woman and was captured by Diana's enemies. Diana then went on a mission to save her sister, against Circe and Hercules. Diana defeats the villains, freeing Donna and taking on the role of Wonder Woman again. Circe puts a spell on Diana, which makes Diana a normal human being, helpless while playing Diana Prince; her strength comes only to her when she is in the role of Wonder Woman.
- Circles
The Circle storyline focuses on the disclosure of a failed assassination attempt against Diana when she was a baby, by four nasty Amazonians. This Amazon - Myrto, Charis, Philomela and Alkyone, collectively referred to as The Circle - is Hippolyta's personal guardian and is very loyal and devoted to him. However, when Hippolyta decides to raise a girl, The Circle feels horrified and considers the baby a fate, the one who will ruin their whole race. So, after Diana was sculpted from clay and revived, The Circle decided to kill the baby. But their efforts failed, and the four Amazons were imprisoned. After years, the Circle escaped from their prison with the help of the Nazi Captain, and decided to complete their previously failed mission and kill Diana. Diana defeated Myrto, Charis, Philomela and then approached Alkyone, who fled and surrendered to his death by falling into the ocean. The other three Amazons return to their prisons.
Edition # 600 introduces Wonder Woman to an alternative time line created by the Gods in which Themyscira has been destroyed and Amazon spread all over the world. In this time line, Diana is an orphan who grew up in New York who is learning to overcome her power. The whole world has forgotten the existence of Wonder Woman and the main story of this escape is Diana trying to restore reality even though she herself does not remember it correctly. Diana has no memory of her previous adventures as Wonder Woman, recalling her memories in pieces and accepting different abilities and resources (such as her flying power and lasso) during her adventurous adventures. The Trio Death Goddesses called The Morrigan act as the main enemy of Wonder Woman. Diana finally defeats the evil goddesses and returns everything back to normal.
