Ideas for Legal & amp; Order: Special. Casting for main characters Legal & amp; Order: Special Victims Unit occurred in the spring of 1999. Dick Wolf, along with officials from NBC and Studios USA were in the final auditions for two leads at Rockefeller Center. The final round has been narrowed down to seven finalists. Dean Winters plays the role of Munch partner, Brian Cassidy, at Belzer's insistence. In the UK "Law & Order: SVU" originally aired on Hallmark Channel (which in 2012 became a Universal Channel) with terrestrial TV broadcasts on Channel 5 in 2016 which then switched to Five USA. The UK is two and a half weeks behind the US. In Brazil, Legal & amp; Order: SVU also airs on Universal Channel, with weekday episodes from last season and simultaneously, two episodes after the original airing in the US. Legal & amp; Order: SVU broadcast at 9:30 pm on Tuesdays on TV3 in New Zealand. Series 18 airs on April 11, 2017.
