The lyrics are pastiche of surrealist figures based on a picture written by Ian Anderson with the same abstract idea as "Mary Cross-Eyed". The song is mostly acoustic, like "Cheap Day Return" or "Slipstream". Rolling Stone magazine has made it a music style "Elizabethan madrigal".
