Swaziland Single Mothers Organization (SWASMO) is a small volunteer organization that works by mobilizing and educating single unfortunate mothers in Manzini's poorest region, Swaziland, in self-reliance, self-awareness and health-related issues. The organization was founded in January 2009 by Beatrice Bitchong.
The SWASMO projects combine income-generating and educational projects on agricultural skills, management, sexual matters such as contraception, and family planning. Income-generating projects include the manufacture of clothing and scarves, useful handicraft items and vegetable gardens. SWASMO also trains group members in facilitation skills to ensure that the project can finally proceed without outside assistance, and the project is participatory. SWASMO also offers individual and group counseling, home visits, and food and clothing support.
